ANU has kept its number one ranking in Australia for Arts and the Humanities.

The Australian National University has maintained its place as the highest-ranked Australian University in the QS World University Rankings for 2016-17, and also the number one Australian university for Arts and Humanities.

The ANU strengthened its position as the highest-ranked member of the Group of Eight universities, coming in at 22nd in the world.

In addition, ANU kept its number one ranking in Australia for Arts and the Humanities. These latest results follow on from the College’s excellent performance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Anthropology, Archaeology, Development Studies, History, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Politics and International Studies, Social Policy and Administration, Sociology, and Statistics and Operational Research are all ranked number one in Australia in QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2016.

“Although these rankings are not a perfect measure, they do represent a vital way for the university to compare its standing among some of the world’s oldest and best universities," Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Paul Pickering, said.

“We can certainly be proud of our latest achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences, which are a testament to the hard efforts of our academic and professional staff.”
